2009 Summer Trip

This past summer we had a chance to work with a small, poverty-stricken village called San Pablo La Laguna in the department of Solola, Guatemala, C.A. The Mayan-descendant people group called Tzutujil Maya inhabit this area nd still maintain their ancestor's way of living. The people here live in houses made of adobe, alunimun, and wood posts. Each house is composed of one large room with four walls. In this room they have a bed and a stove; everyone (families consistet of a minimum of six members) lives in it. Agriculture is the main source of work, mainly the agriculture of coffee. We plan to return next year and build houses, feed the hungry, provide clothing, and evangelize through means of evangelistic campaigns and personal evangelism. We are looking for volunteers, prayer, and donations; any help is a blessing.

We also worked for three weeks in the small town of Asuncion Mita, in the department of Jutiapa, Guatemala, C.A. Here with worked with Pastors Eric and Magdalena Cambara and their church, Asambleas de Dios Efeso.

"I was able to closely work with the youth group there by having a mini retreat based on the theme that we are the light of the world. I also pushed them to evangelize the area more. It was lots of fun; I miss them. Most of these youths are in broken families, for example their dads are in the U.S., but these dads have made nother family there and have left their family here to die of starvation. These youths have been forced to mature early, many of them are between 13-16 and they are already the man of the house. " - Bianca

Here, the church in Asuncion Mita and our team went down to Desvisadero, Jutiapa in Guatemala, C.A. Here the people live in extremely low poverty levels, living with less $0.50 as their daily income. Families consist of many memebers, yet there is not enough money to fully feed all of them. The people here seemed terrified and efensive all the time; the children hardly ever smiled. The pastor we worked with down here has resently been kicked out of the small town by its inhabitants because they detest Christianity. But, to God's glory, 15 people came to Christ with our expedition . The Word of the Lord always prevails, even in the midst of persecution. Praise God!!
