Food Distribution

So... near the end of the trip we were tallying up our funds, and saw that we had a lot left over. We said from the beginning that if we had money left over, perhaps we could set it aside to buy things and food that people needed.

As I said before, we fell in love with Champas, and there are some families there that are in real need of help.

At the same time, we ran into a lot of families who also needed help...

So in the end, seeing that we had more than enough left over, we went shopping!

Our first stop was to get four pairs of shoes and shirts for a family across from us.

Next we went and bought enough food and supplies to fill 30 bags/boxes of supplies to hand out to the thirty families that the Pastor counted, that needed them the most.

In each one we put:
Bag of Rice (1)
Bag of Sugar (1)
1lb of Beans
Spaghetti (2)
Bag of Oatmeal
Bag of child nutrition Oatmeal
Body Soap

Dish Soap
Detergent
Toothbrushes (3)
Toothpaste
Chicken Broth Mix
Matches
Coffee
Shampoo
Powdered Milk
Feminine Pads
Oil

It was truly a site to see, and the whole store was pretty much held up as we loading everything in the baskets, to the checkout stand, and then to the boxes to be carried out.

When we got them out of the market, we loaded them into a truck, and then brought them to the church.

After we got everything set, we then loaded everything into the truck once more and headed down to Champas to distribute the goods.

**Cool Testimony:

So when we were a little more than half way through passing the goods out, it began to pour, and pour hard! It actually started while we were passing a box to one house as well... So the family told us to get out of the rain, and inside, even running out to get us themselves a few times. So we got in, and took shelter in their house. For me, I can admit that what ran through my mind at first, was more of shock at how warm and comfy their house was, as when I looked at their house from the outside, I saw it more and inadequate form of shelter! It kept the inhabitants warm, dry, covered, and sheltered, and it stood up fine... That hit my big head a bit...

Anyways, so we were waiting in there, and it is pouring, so I began to pray in my head, asking that the rain would be stopped... A few of us had that in mind. God then told Bianca that there is a group there for a reason, and to have everyone pray together... So we did, and we prayed that Jesus would make a way for us to pass out the rest of the food, seeing that we were leaving in a couple days...

If you have ever heard rain on a metal roof, you would know just how loud it can be, and let me tell you, as soon as we said "amen," it went from banging metal, to complete silence...

So we went out side to see, and the heavy rain completely stopped in a snap! A bit of a drizzle, but that was it, and that ended soon as well. About 20 minutes later the sky cleared up as well, and it didn't rain until later on that night.

Let me just say, God is cool.
